Oh wow! Spirit Bound has totally surpassed anything I had originally thought. So, with most series you have a pretty good idea what the conflict in the book is about, and there really isn’t anything else, at least for that installment. This book is not like that. You think you know what the main conflict is, but that is only part of it. Once that is part of the conflict is addressed- relatively early in the novel, the story keeps going. It takes you in directions you couldn’t even guess. Man, I am just floored.
It is actually kind of hard to express the crazy turns this book has taken. It is constant and consistent in its action. You think there is a moment of rest, and there just isn’t.
Rose is ambitious (ha!) as usual, and her stunts continue to amaze me. But it is really Valisia that I am proud of during this book. For a long time I felt like Rose was pulling her along, not really knowing enough about her to know why Rose and her have been best friends since Kindergarten. Now I know, she is as strong as Rose, just in a little different of a way. She is stubborn, proud, and smart; she is an equal partner in their friendship.
Without giving away too much of what happens in this novel, there are some pretty adult themes. Much of it is about love. Rose told Adrian in the last novel that she would give their relationship a shot. This relationship isn’t viewed as something that can happen for long, as she is dhampir and he is Moroi. This touches on multi-racial relationships, and how dhampirs are considered lower class. Those allusions don’t end there. She also feels a pull toward Dimitri, and is it fair to try a relationship with one knowing the other is out there somewhere. Especially since she wants to ‘save’ Dimitri.
There is also a huge part about guilt, and how could you live with yourself after making some horrible decisions. This is so hard to read and bear for everyone involved. I cant tell you anymore about it, so just go get the book and read it!

Thanks for the fast review! I can’t wait to read the book, I’ve been dying for it to come out!
MMM Dimitri!! Great review… I think some of the scenes were steamy but not too much for teens which is great as a young adult read. My daughter’s got the book in hand now
OMG!! I just finished the book and I have been rendered speechless!! I was surprised at how many twists and unexpected turns the novel took. It seemed as if the book was going to end without a need for another novel, however, December cannot come fast enough! I loved it and I will have to read it again so I can appreciate other characters besides Rose and Dimitri…Bethia is right about Lisa and sometimes I think of her as needy but she was so independent in this book. So many different angles to this book…everyone should read it!!
i need spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUPER DUPER L.O.V.E. this book, started to like Adrian in here but still love Dimka. The story makes me crave for more vampire academy to read.
