Angel of Vengeance: not a young adult fantasy book reviewWe began this blog in order to review books meant for the young adult crowd–now just because women in their 20s and 30s happen to read and love these books as well, doesn’t mean they weren’t meant for teens. And I will be the first to admit, that yes, I do love them. My point is, that we review young adult fantasy and sci-fi novels so that parents and teens can check the content of the books before they read them to ensure they are appropriate. I just started reading this book,  Angel of Vengeance, over the weekend. Although it might be a great book, it’s not a young adult book by any means. So if you’re looking for your next vampire fix, and aren’t into crude language, S & M, or graphic violence, this isn’t your book.

Night World Series Review

I am doing a review on a total of nine books in this post. Each book is around 200 pages, yet each feels almost like a short story. I purchased these books in 3 book sets. Each only took me about 2 to 3 days.

Each book has a similar theme; the two main characters consist of a human and a mythological character. Whether it be a shape shifter, vampire, werewolf, or witch, each has its spot in this series. Each pairing is breaking the law by being in love.

Wings Book Review | Wings Series

This is the first book that Aprilynne Pike has published. I have never heard of her before, or read anything by her, obviously. I saw it where I see most of the books I read, on display at the book store. The cover is watery and dark with a vivid blue flower and then the title.

It didn’t seem much, but I was intrigued. I acquired the book, and got to reading. The story isn’t long or complicated, but it is very original. It is a faerie story, but these are unlike any faeries I have previously read.

Mockingjay Book Review | Hunger Games Series

For anyone who knows how I feel about this series, love it! It should be no surprise that I was anxiously awaiting the release of this novel. I pre-ordered my books, waited at the local bookstore until midnight to pick it up, took this morning off so I could stay up all night and read it. We were the second people in line, and were back at my house by 12:20 to start reading this book. I was absolutely riveted and amazed at where Suzanne took the story. It was worth staying up until 5 am to read the whole book.

I won’t make this a long review. The book is amazing, but it is so complex that I don’t want to accidentally say something I shouldn’t.

The biggest thing is that this book is much more violent then the last two. This seems surprising as the last two are focused on children killing children. But this is an all out civil war, and the are causalities are high. Characters we care about, and have devoted our time and energy are both wounded physically and mentally. The intensity of the book surprised me, and I caught myself tearing up at parts that were especially overwhelming.

During the last couple weeks I haven’t been following books like I usually do. I really enjoyed Shiver, read my review here, and was extremely excited for Linger to be released. Except, I forgot it was coming out as soon as it did. It came out a few weeks ago, and I apparently missed the whole thing!

So I saw it was released, and I had to run out and buy it immediately. I read most of it the first night. In the first book Grace and Sam finally make it in the end and I am so happy for them,
